Eritrea U-20 team arrives in Uganda ahead of Cecafa tourney

Eritrea’s National U-20 team arrived at the Entebbe International Airport in Uganda this evening ahead of the start of the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup.

The Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup will take place September 21st to October 5th at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru and the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu.

Eritrea will open their Group A campaign against Uganda Hippos on Saturday in Gulu before playing their second game against Sudan on Monday.

Already the national U-20 teams from Djibouti, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and South Sudan have arrived for the regional tournament. The Ethiopian and Zanzibar teams will arrive on Friday, while Somalia jets-in on Saturday morning.

Cecafa have also re-adjusted the fixture to have Group C kick-off on Saturday with a game between Burundi and South Sudan.

Nicholas Musonye, the secretary general of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) said they expect a very competitive tournament.

Last month Eritrea hosted the Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup in Asmara. Uganda beat Kenya 4-0 in the final.

Group A - Uganda, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti

Group B -  Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zanzibar
