Eritrea to open against Tanzania in CECAFA U-20 Women’s Championship
Eritrea will open their campaign against Tanzania in the opening match of the CECAFA U-20 Women’s Championship 2021 on October 28th.
Uganda will host the regional tournament from October 28th to November 9th at the FUFA technical Center ground in Njeru. Tanzania ejected Eritrea in the second round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier few weeks ago.
Auka Gecheo, the Executive Director of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) said the tournament will be played on a round robin basis between the six teams.
Gecheo said playing on a round robin basis will give each team chance to play five matches in the competition.
According to the fixtures released on Wednesday, the Eritrea team will play their second match against Ethiopia on October 31st, before taking on Uganda on November 3rd.
The Eritrean team will later battle Djibouti on November 6th, before taking on Burundi in their last game three days later.
The other members who will not field teams in the competition include; Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya and Zanzibar.
