Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup: Uganda, Rwanda register wins in Group B

Uganda and Rwanda’s Junior Wasps have registered comfortable in Group B matches at the on-going Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup in Asmara, Eritrea.

Ethiopia showed some good passing but failed to break through the tough Ugandan defenders.

The second game saw youngster Eric Irahamye grab the headlines with the first hat-trick of the tournament against South Sudan

Irahamye, a student of Nyamirama Secondary School back in Rwanda gave his team the lead after 43 minutes. But South Sudan almost equalized with skipper Gai Kizito Aguer shooting wide one minute later.

In the second half Rwanda’s Junior Wasps continued to dominate play as Irahamye made it 2-0 after 73 minutes and added the third six minutes later.

The South Sudan coach Simon Albino said his boys had played well in the first half, but later got tired. “We shall try to improve as the tournament progresses,” said Alak.

Yves Rwasamanzi, the Rwanda coach said he was happy with the performance of his players.

On Sunday Sudan will battle Kenya, while Burundi take on Somalia. Kenya already picked three points on Day 1 with a 3-1 win over Somalia, while Burundi also stopped Eritrea 2-1.
