Tanzania’s President Suluhu Hassan set to sponsor CECAFA Women’s Championship

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan has accepted to sponsor an annual CECAFA Women’s Championship.
Wallace Karia, the President of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) told enffonline that the tournament will be known as the Samia Suluhu Women’s Championship.
“We are very delighted that the President of Tanzania provided US$100,000 towards the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League/CECAFA qualifier in Kenya and will also be sponsoring a tournament every year,” added Karia.
Karia said that the region needs more and more partnerships with sponsors to come on board and support football. “With more sponsors on board, football in the region will continue to grow,” added Karia.
Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan now joins Rwanda President Paul Kagame to support football in the CECAFA region. Kagame has financially supported the regional CECAFA Club Championship since 2002 and the event is named after him as the Kagame Club Championship.
CECAFA which consists of 12 members including Eritrea have been staging about five tournaments every year.
