CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup: Eritrea to battle Ethiopia again in ranking match

After failing to qualify for the semi final stage at the ongoing CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup, Eritrea will again face Ethiopia in a classification match on Monday.

Hosts Ethiopia were ranked 5th and Eritrea 8th after the group stages of the tournament in Bahir Dar.

In-case the Eritrean team pick a win against Ethiopia, they will qualify to face the winner between Uganda and DR Congo in a match to classify the fifth and sixth ranked teams.

In the group stages Eritrea and Ethiopia settled for a 3-3 draw.

The semi final stage has also been set with Tanzania set to face South Sudan, while Burundi take on Kenya. Djibouti who lost all their two games in the group stage have exited the event and the team is expected to return home on Monday.

The CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup is the first competition organized in 2021 by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA).
