Eritrea pick first win in CECAFA U-17 Women’s Challenge Cup

Misgana Mehari netted a hat-trick to help Eritrea register her first win in the on-going CECAFA U-17 Women’s Challenge Cup in Uganda on Sunday.
After only seven minutes Mehari gave Eritrea the lead at the Fufa Technical center in Njeru before Haben Goitom made it 2-0 after 10 minutes. Mehari scored two more goals before the interval.
In the second game table leaders Uganda and Tanzania settled for a 1-1 draw.
Aisha Masaka gave Tanzania the lead after 22 minutes, but Fauzia Najjemba converted a penalty after 35 minutes to level matters.
Kenya was also on the winning side stopping Burundi 3-2 in the last game of the day. Anna Arusi netted a hat-trick, while Burundi scored through Stephie Mutoni and Sarah Karenzo.
While Uganda top the table with 10 points, Eritrea are in fifth place with 4 points. The FIFA sponsored inaugural tournament that ends on Wednesday is being played on a round robin.
