Eritrea confirm participation in 2019 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup

The Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) has confirmed that Eritrea is among the 11 nations that have confirmed participation in the 2019 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

Uganda will host the regional tournament for senior men’s teams between December 1-19th at venues yet to be communicated.

Nicholas Musonye confirmed in a communication on October 21st that apart from Rwanda, all the other members of the Cecafa region have confirmed participation.

“We hope to have a very competitive tournament to climax the season,” added Musonye.

He also made it clear that they have three applications from team from other zones to take part in the tournament. “We shall look at the best team to invite,” he added.

The 11 teams that have confirmed participation include host Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi, Somali, Djibouti, Zanzibar, Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan and Ethiopia.

Harambee Stars of Kenya are the defending champions of the regional tournament.
