Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup: Rwanda stop Ethiopia to keep unbeaten run

Three first half goals were enough to give Rwanda’s Junior Wasps a 3-0 win over Ethiopia in a Group B match played on Wednesday at the on-going Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup in Asmara, Eritrea.
Tesfaye Tamiray Korme had a chance in the 10th minute to give Ethiopia the lead, but he blasted wide. With Rwanda in total command of the game Siradji Iradukunda gave them the lead after 36 minutes.
In a space of two minutes Pacifique Iradukunda made it 2-0 for Rwanda when he out paced the Ethiopian defenders and scored. Rwanda’s Skipper Kenedy Hoziyana increased the lead on 39 minutes as the game headed for half time.
In the second half the Ethiopian team resorted to defending deep in their half.
Usman Hamza Habtamu had a chance for the Ethiopian team but was over powered in the box by a defender who cleared out of danger.
Rwanda top Group B with six points with a better goal difference than Uganda who also have the same number of points.
Rwanda’s coach Yves Rwasamanzi said he is happy to go top of the group, but added that they must prepare well for their next game against Uganda.
“We are learning from this tournament and these boys will not be the same after the event. Like I said before it is not all about winning, but gaining experience,” he added,” said Ethiopia’s coach Solomon Meka.
