CECAFA confirm Eritrea’s payment for regional U-23 Challenge Cup

The Council of East and central African Football Associations (CECAFA) has confirmed that Eritrea Football body has paid US$20,000 ahead of the U-23 Challenge Cup.
Ethiopia will host the U-23 CECAFA Challenge Cup between July 3-18th in Bahir Dar.
Auka Gacheo, the CECAFA Executive Director confirmed that the Eritrea National Football Federation (ENFF), Uganda, Burundi and Ethiopia are the only members who have so far paid.
During the CECAFA meeting held in Rabat, Morocco in March this year ahead of the CAF elections, members decided that the Challenge Cup will be played between U-23 teams and every Members Associations should pay US$20,000 for their team to participate.
Already the teams that have confirmed participation and committed to pay the US$20,000 include; Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Djibouti, South Sudan, Rwanda and guests DR Congo.
The U-23 Challenge Cup will be the first tournament in 2021 season for the CECAFa region. The zonal qualifier for the CAF Women’s Champions League will later be played in Kenya between July 17 to August 1st.
