Coach Alemseghed calls for tight defending in Namibia

Head coach of Eritrea’s national team, Efrem Alemseghed has called for tight defending when they face Namibia away on Tuesday in the return leg of the preliminary round of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier.
The Red Sea Camels of Eritrea lost the first leg 2-1 in Asmara last week and need a win to make it to the group stage of the qualifiers.
“We did not defend well in the first leg that we lost. We need to be very perfect at the back on Wednesday but also make sure we take our chances at the front,” added the coach.
Ali Sulieman, the goal scorer in the first leg defeat will be hungry to try and get his name on the score sheet again in a game that will mean much more if they are to progress to the next round.
On Sunday countries from the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) Tanzania and Ethiopia qualified for the group stage. Tanzania stopped Burundi 3-0 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, while Ethiopia picked a 1-1 draw away to Lesotho to qualify on an away goals rule.
On Tuesday other Cecafa members will also be in action with Djibouti playing away to Eswatini, while Zimbabwe host Somalia. Sudan who stopped Chad in the first leg with host the return leg in Khartoum, while Rwanda host Seychelles in Kigali.
