Eritrea to face South Sudan, Uganda in U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Eritrea has been placed in a tough group ahead of the qualifiers for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

In the draws conducted virtually on Wednesday afternoon Eritrea has been placed in Group B alongside Burundi, South Sudan and Uganda.

The tournament, the first in the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) calendar will take November 22nd to December 6th in Tanzania.

Auka Gecheo, the new Executive Officer together with Hassan Amir conducted the draws for both the U-20 and U-17 Afcon qualifiers. Several officials of different Member Associations attended the virtual ceremony.

The best three teams in Group A and B that have four teams each together with the best two in Group C will automatically qualify for the quarter finals.

For the Afcon U-17 qualifiers to take place in Rwanda 13-28th Eritrea has been placed in Group A alongside Rwanda and South Sudan

Afcon U-20 qualifeirs

Group A: Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, Djibouti

Group B: Burundi, Eritrea, South Sudan, Uganda

Group C: Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan

Afcon U-17 qualifiers

Group A: Rwanda, Eritrea, South Sudan

Group B: Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya

Group C: Sudan, Djibouti, Tanzania
