Eritrea for Afcon U-20 qualifying tourney

The Eritrea National Football Federation (ENFF) has confirmed that they will field a team in the regional qualifier for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Tanzania will host the qualifier for the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) from November 22 to December 6th.

Last Sunday the executive Committee of Cecafa headed by it’s president Wallace Karia met in Arusha, Tanzania and decided the U-20 Afcon and U-17 Afcon qualifiers are the only tournaments that will take place in the remaining months of 2020.

According to information from the Cecafa secretariat headed by Auka Gecheo, Eritrea is among the 10 nations that confirmed to participate in both the Afcon U-20 qualifiers and the Afcon U-17 qualifiers which will take place in Rwanda.

While Somalia will miss the Afcon U-17 because they are still suspended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for entering and failing to participate in the qualifiers for the Afcon -17 in Tanzania, the teams confirmed are; Eritrea, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, South Sudan, Sudan, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and defending champions in the region Uganda.

The team that have confirmed participation in the Afcon U-20 qualifiers include; Eritrea, Somalia, Burundi, Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and the defending champions in this category Tanzania.
