Eritrean referee Teklu Tsegay prepares for 2020 Total Africa Nations Championship

Experienced Eritrean referee Tesgay Mogos Teklu is hoping to make the grade for the 2020 Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) to take place in Cameroon April 4-25th.
Teklu who has officiated several international matches in the African matches is fresh from attending a four-day intensive preparatory training programme course for 2020 CHAN referees took place February 4-8th in Cairo, Egypt.
The course which also attracted eight other referees and assistant referees from the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) region focused on the physical aspect and the Video Assistant Referees (VAR), which will be applied at the quarter-final stage of the competition.
The Course was supervised by CAF Refereeing Director, Eddy Maillet and a team of experienced instructors including Jerome Damon (South Africa), Doue Noumandiez Desire (Cote d’Ivoire), Lim Kee Chong (Mauritius), Essam Abdel Fattah (Egypt), Mademba Mbacke and Mohamed Houssein Ali (Djibouti).
Out of the 42 who under went the training in Egypt, CAF is hoping to reduce on the number for the 2020 CHAN. The CHAN tournament which brings together players who feature in their local respective home leagues will attract 16 teams.
