Eritrea to face Burundi in 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup opening tie

The Red-Sea Boys of Eritrea will face Burundi in their opening Group A match in the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
Nicholas Musonye, the Secretary general of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) said the tournament will now be held in Kampala from December 7-19th.
According to the adjusted groups and fixture released Eritrea will battle Burundi on December 9th before facing hosts Uganda on December 11th in the second game. The Eritrean team will later take on Djibouti and play Somalia in the last group game.
Musonye said South Sudan, Ethiopia and guest side Democratic Republic of Congo withdrew from the competitions because they failed to meet certain requirements by CECAFA and the hosts Uganda.
The best two teams from each group will play at the semi final stage on December 17th. The play-off for third place and final will take place on December 19th.
Group A: Uganda, Burundi, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti
Group B: Tanzania, Sudan, Kenya, Zanzibar
