Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup: Eritrea humble Sudan 6-0

Hosts Eritrea did not disappoint the home fans when they humbled Sudan 6-0 in a Group A match at the on-going Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup on Tuesday.
Ahmed Awad netted a hat-trick for the home side, while Tesfay Temesgen scored a brace. Rezene Esrom also got his name on the score sheet for Eritrea.
The Sudan team tried to defend in numbers, but failed to stop the Eritrean team that was motivated by the passionate home fans. After losing the first game 2-1 to Burundi, Eritrea will have to win their remaining two games against Kenya and Somalia if they hope to qualify for the semi finals.
“I am happy with the way the boys played today. Winning by a big margin means we played attacking football,” said Eritrea’s coach Mekonen Zewde.
The earlier Group A saw Burundi fight from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Kenya.
Gil Harel gave Kenya the lead after four minutes with a well taken rebound past the Burundian goalkeeper Osana Irankunda. In the second half Burundi returned more determined and attacking in numbers before Florien Inteyiteka leveled for them.
On Wednesday South Sudan will battle Tanzania, before Ethiopia take on Rwanda in Group B matches.
