We need to correct mistakes – coach Zewde

Head coach of Eritrea’s U-15 team, Mekonen Zewde has said they will work harder to correct the mistakes before his team play against Sudan in their second game at the on-going Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup.

Eritrea lost 2-1 to Burundi in a Group B match played at the Asmara National Stadium on Friday.

“Apart from a few mistakes and the second goal which resulted from our goalkeeper’s mistake, I think my team played well against Burundi,” explained Zewde.

The coach made it clear that they must work harder to kill off games with goals because in football the most important thing is to score the goals and also play well defensively.

“Our target is obviously to win the trophy. But we have a big task because we lost the opening match and now we need to perform well in our remaining three games in the Group,” added Zwede.

Eritrea are played alongside Burundi, Sudan, Kenya and Somalia in Group A. Group B has Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Tanzania.

The best two teams in each group will qualify for the semi finals to be played on August 28th, two days before the final.
